Starling Marte Expects To Hit Soon
3 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Starling Marte (oblique) isn't in the team's starting lineup for an intrasquad game on Friday, but he said he expects to start hitting in the next few days. Marte said he should be ready for Opening Day. The 33-year-old hasn't done much early in camp due to a sore oblique. The Mets will ease the veteran outfielder into action, especially with a shortened spring training this year. As long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks, he should be a prime outfield target in fantasy drafts after he hit .310/.383/.458 with 12 home runs, 55 RBI, 89 runs scored and 47 stolen bases in 526 plate appearances over 120 games with the Miami Marlins and Oakland Athletics in 2021.
