Starling Marte Goes 5-for-5, Homers on Sunday
7 years agoPittsburgh Pirates outfielder Starling Marte put forth a monstrous effort in Sunday's win over the Miami Marlins, going 5-for-5 with a solo home run and four runs scored. Marte singled in his first four at-bats before putting the icing on the cake with a ninth-inning blast to left field. The outburst raised his slash line on the season to a robust .305/.388/.559. The home run was already his third of the season, putting him nearly halfway to his total from 2017 (seven). Thus far, Marte looks more like the player who hit 19 long balls in 2015 than the one who hit 16 in the last two seasons combined, which is a welcome sight for his fantasy owners.
