Starling Marte Homers in Second Straight Game
7 years agoPittsburgh Pirates outfielder Starling Marte was responsible for all his team's runs on Saturday, going 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI. He knotted up the game at 1-1 with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning before tying things up again with a two-run homer in the eighth. The long ball was his second in as many days and came against Josh Hader, one of the most dominant relievers in the game this season. Marte now has five home runs on the year, two away from his 2017 total. His average exit velocity is up by nearly five miles per hour from last season, and his flyball rate has increased to 36.3 percent. In other words, this power surge looks legitimate.
