Starling Marte Injured Tuesday Night
2 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Starling Marte (leg) was removed from the game early on Tuesday night against the San Diego Padres. Marte appeared to injure his leg in the first inning when he was caught trying to steal second base. He was replaced in the outfield by Mark Canha. For now, fantasy managers should consider the 33-year-old day-to-day until we know more about the nature and severity of his injury. Marte went 0-for-1 and reached on a fielder's choice before leaving the contest in San Diego. He entered the day hitting .278/.317/.443 with seven home runs, 33 RBI, 36 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 224 plate appearances over 49 games in his first year in New York. Marte has especially hit well in the last two weeks, going 18-for-59 with three homers, 11 RBI and three steals, so fantasy managers will be crossing their fingers that his leg injury isn't too serious.
