Stephen Strasburg To Make Season Debut Thursday
2 years agoWashington Nationals starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg (neck, shoulder) will be activated from the injured list to make his season debut on Thursday against the Miami Marlins, according to skipper Dave Martinez. Strasburg will make his return to the majors after battling injuries the last two seasons and having thoracic outlet surgery in the offseason. The 33-year-old made seven starts in the last two seasons and had a rough 5.74 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in just 26 2/3 innings pitched, so fantasy managers aren't exactly sure what they'll be getting. In three rehab starts with Single-A Fredericksburg and Triple-A Rochester, Stras allowed only three earned runs on four hits while walking six and striking out 13 in 13 2/3 innings, though, so there's a glimmer of hope that he can return to his pre-injury form. Tread carefully.
