6 years agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder Steve Pearce began throwing over the last few days, the first step back in his rehab. Pearce was placed on the disabled list on May 3 after being diagnosed with a strained oblique; recently he hadn’t been cleared for baseball activities yet but this is obviously a step in the right direction. Pearce was off to a very good start across his first 72 plate appearances prior to the injury, slashing .273/.333/.485 with three home runs, 14 runs scored, and 13 RBI while hitting the ball at a career-best hard-hit rate (41.8%). When Pearce does return, it will be to a crowded outfield featuring Kevin Pillar, Curtis Granderson, Teoscar Hernandez, and the soon-to-return Randal Grichuk.--John Smith
