6 years agoBoston Red Sox utility man Steve Pearce finished 3-for-5, with a home run and three runs batted in during an 8-2 win over Toronto Thursday. The long ball was his first of the season and his three RBI give him just eight in 24 games played. Pearce now has a hit in four straight games that he has appeared in. If he can continue to trend upward at the plate, he may see more consistent playing time. However, a .180 expected batting average has some serious work ahead of it before Pearce becomes fantasy relevant. A weekend series with the Astros, including a Sunday matchup with Justin Verlander, doesn't bode well for a player like Pearce who is still trying to find himself at the plate.--Steve Janik - RotoBaller
