Steve Pearce Officially Retires From Baseball
5 years agoFirst baseman/outfielder Steve Pearce announced his retirement from baseball on Monday night, while appearing as a guest on WEEI's broadcast of the 2018 Red Sox World Series run. The 37-year-old was named World Series MVP in 2018 after totaling three home runs, eight RBI, five runs scored and a .333 batting average through 16 plate appearances to help the Red Sox clinch the championship winning series against the Dodgers. Pearce finished his 13-year career with 91 home runs, 303 RBI, a .254 batting average, .332 on-base percentage and .772 OPS while spending time as a member of the Pirates, Orioles, Astros, Yankees, Rays and Blue Jays, before earning World Series MVP honors and finishing his career as a member of the Red Sox.
