Steven Wright Twirls Another Gem
6 years agoIt looked like the Boston Red Sox would have a hole in their rotation in lieu of the Drew Pomeranz injury. After two immaculate starts from Steven Wright, that is clearly not the case. Wright was stellar again on Monday night against the Baltimore Orioles. He did not factor into the decision in a 2-0 victory. Wright went 6 2/3 shutout innings while giving up four hits, three walks, and striking out five. He has not allowed a run in his last 22 1/3 innings and now has a sensational 1.21 ERA on the season. It seemed asinine to say that Wright would carve out a rotation spot, but his performance has been undeniable. If Wright continues to pitch like this, the Red Sox will have no choice but to keep the knuckleballer in their rotation. Grab him while you can.
