3 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Taijuan Walker went 6 1/3 innings pitched in an uneven start against the Nationals on Sunday as the Mets fell 5-2. Walker allowed ten hits, including two home runs to Kyle Schwarber, and four earned runs while striking out five. Walker, the losing pitcher of record, was actually in line for a quality start when he left the game in the top of the seventh inning following a Gerardo Parra double. Unfortunately, Walker had to wave goodbye to the QS when Jeurys Familia allowed Parra to score on Schwarber's third homer of the game. Despite the hiccup on Sunday, Walker remains a huge surprise for the Mets and fantasy managers in 2021. Walker has been one of the best pitchers in the N.L. having posted a 2.42 ERA, a 1.05 WHIP, and 77 strikeouts over 74 1/3 IP so far this season. Managers should continue to keep Walker active in all formats, though his next scheduled start at home on Saturday is against the Phillies, a team he has yielded five earned runs to over 10 1/3 IP in two starts this season.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
