Taijuan Walker Throws A Gem On Saturday
3 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Taijuan Walker went 6 2/3 innings pitched in the Mets 2-1 loss to the Dodgers on Saturday, allowing just one earned run on two hits and three walks. Walker allowed no hits through 6 1/3 IP before Dodgers catcher Will Smith broke up the no-hitter and shut out with a solo home run. Walker struck out eight batters, aided by a devastating splitter. Unfortunately, the Mets would go on to lose the game in ten innings. Walker did not factor into the decision. Saturday's outing was the second quality start in a row for Walker, after a rough patch of four starts immediately following the All-Star break. Walker now owns a 3.75 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 110 strikeouts over 117 2/3 IP in 22 starts. With his second quality start in a row, against a formidable lineup no less, it appears Walker has left his July struggles behind. He can be reinserted into fantasy lineups for his next start against these same Dodgers in Los Angeles on Thursday.
