3 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Tanner Houck is all but certain to have a rotation spot to open the 2022 season, according to head coach Alex Cora. Nathan Eovaldi, Nick Pivetta and Houck are the team's three starters locked into rotation spots so far. Veterans Michael Wacha and Rich Hill and Garrett Whitlock are in the mix for the final two spots. MassLive's Chris Cotillo is guessing Wacha and Hill will round out the rotation. Houck, 25, pitched well in 18 appearances (13 starts) in his second big-league season with a 3.52 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 87:21 K:BB over 69 innings in 2021.
