3 years agoWashington Nationals relief pitcher Tanner Rainey could return to the active roster as early as Tuesday, according to MLB.com. Rainey has been on the COVID-19 injured list since May 19. The right-hander threw a 32-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday, and manager Dave Martinez said he shouldn't require a rehab assignment, as it's not uncommon for relievers to go a week without pitching. Assuming Rainey is healthy, he would be a welcome addition to a Nationals bullpen to help get to closer Brad Hand. Rainey was a key piece of the Nats bullpen last season, pitching to a 2.66 ERA with a whopping 42.7 percent strikeout rate. He would have fantasy value in leagues that reward holds, or as an insurance option to Hand.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
