Tarik Cohen Could Be A Cut Candidate
3 years agoChicago Bears running back Tarik Cohen, who missed all of the 2021 season due to a torn ACL in his knee, could be in danger of being cut this offseason. The Bears would only have $3.5 million in dead money if they were to cut Cohen, while he'd save the team $2.25 million against the salary cap. The dead-money hit is obviously not prohibitive, and wide receiver Jakeem Grant could handle Cohen's punt-return and gadget roles if he's re-signed. Cohen was a Pro Bowler and first-team All-Pro in 2018, but he came back down to Earth in 2019, and there's no guarantee he'll be that effective in a pass-catching role in 2022 coming off a lost season. If Cohen returns, he might find playing time hard to come by while battling Khalil Herbert for touches behind David Montgomery.
