Tavon Austin Expected To Be Released
7 years agoLos Angeles Rams wide receiver Tavon Austin is a good candidate to be released this offseason, as the Rams can save $3 million by releasing him. He comes with an $8 million salary cap hit and a $5 million dead cap, according to Spotrac. He's under team control through 2021, but he no longer has a role on this team. He really only served as a decoy in the running game for Todd Gurley, but that role diminished as the year went on. Austin played only two offensive snaps in the playoff loss to the Falcons. The only reason they might hang onto him is that the Rams would only have a 37.5 percent savings this year with him and 100 percent after 2018. He had a career-low 13 catches for only 47 yards and no scores in 2017, and Austin has just 12 total touchdowns in his five seasons with the Rams. If he stays in LA, he won't be on the fantasy radar at all, but he could carve out a bit role with another organization.
