Taylor Hearn Does Not Need Tommy John Surgery
6 years agoTexas Rangers starting pitcher Taylor Hearn (elbow) had an MRI on Saturday in Arlington by the team's physician and it was determined that he is dealing with only inflammation in his left elbow and he will not need Tommy John surgery. It's a huge relief for long-term keeper owners and the Rangers organization. Texas was reluctant to bring him up, and had hoped to do so at or after the All-Star break. He made his debut in Seattle on Thursday and he allowed five runs - four earned - with three hits and four walks before departing while showing a drop in velocity. He is on the 10-day injured list and will not throw for at least three weeks. Hearn will spend time at extended spring training in Arizona to recover.
