Taylor Rogers, Not Blake Parker, Gets The Save Saturday
6 years agoMinnesota Twins left-hander Taylor Rogers picked up his second save of the season on Saturday, preserving a 6-5 win over the Baltimore Orioles in the first game of a doubleheader. Rogers went two innings, allowing one run and striking out five. It comes as a mild surprise as the team had been using veteran right-hander Blake Parker, not Rogers, in most of the save chances this season. That being said, it stands to reason that the team was happy with how Rogers was pitching and decided to save Parker in case he was needed in the second game. Rogers is more likely to continue to serve in a setup role with the occasional save chance mixed in when the matchups are right. Both relievers are worth rostering in standard mixed leagues.
