4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Taylor Widener (groin) was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday. Widener was the team's probable starter for their game against the Padres but was surprisingly scratched from his start and promptly placed on the injured list. It's not quite clear when he sustained the injury, though it's clearly a serious enough ailment to warrant some time on the sidelines. The Diamondbacks will likely provide more clarity on the situation. Arizona will go with a bullpen game on Wednesday- starting with reliever Riley Smith, who was recalled from the alternate site.--Tim Capurso
