Tejay Antone Picks Up Save On Sunday
3 years agoCincinnati Reds reliever Tejay Antone threw a scoreless ninth inning to save a 7-6 win over the Colorado Rockies on Sunday. Antone made things interesting as he worked around two hits in the frame and put the tying run on third base with one out before he got Garrett Hampson to ground into a double play. Antone now has a 1-0 record, 2.08 ERA, 0.78 WHIP, two saves, and 29 strikeouts in 21 2/3 innings of work. The Reds used Amir Garrett in the sixth inning, leading one to wonder whether Antone has taken over as the team's preferred ninth-inning option. Of course, Garrett was in his first game back from serving a five-game suspension so the Reds could be easing him back into high-leverage situations. Antone should be rostered in deeper mixed leagues going forward.
