4 years agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder Teoscar Hernandez teased fans with flashes of brilliance prior to 2020, but he could never put together a full season of above-average production. That changed last year when he produced a 143 wRC+ during the pandemic-shortened season. Hernandez credited a new mindset and a better understanding of how pitchers were attacking him for the improved offensive output. The outfielder admitted that he's still an aggressive hitter, but he realized that pitchers wouldn't throw him offerings to hit if he kept swinging wildly without a plan. He reduced his first-pitch swinging rate by 20% compared to 2019 and became less aggressive with breaking balls. Hernandez plans to continue the approach in 2021.--Marc Hulet - RotoBaller
