7 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays may have some complicated lineup decisions laying ahead, but at least for Saturday against the New York Yankees, they’re choosing to ride the hot hands. The hot-hitting outfielder Teoscar Hernandez and shortstop/second baseman Lourdes Gurriel are both in the lineup once again. It’s the seventh straight start for Hernandez, who has been in the lineup every game since his call-up on April 13. He’s only slashed .370/.433/.778 with two home runs, a triple, three doubles, six runs scored, nine RBI and a stolen base since. Gurriel, meanwhile, made his major league debut in place of the injured Devon Travis (toe) on Friday and went 2-for-5 with three RBI. Neither will have a clear path to playing time when all Blue Jays are healthy, but at minimum it looks as though Hernandez is forcing their hand.--John Smith
