Texans Tight End Situation Still Unsettled After Week 1
6 years agoThe Houston Texans entered Week 1's game against the New England Patriots with three tight ends -- veteran Ryan Griffin and a pair of rookies in Jordan Akins and Jordan Thomas -- on the roster. With wide receivers Will Fuller and Keke Coutee both missing the game with hamstring issues, the Texans needed at least one of the tight ends to step up. Instead, the three combined for three catches. Griffin was held without a catch despite five targets, Akins caught a pair of passes for 11 yards, and Thomas hauled in one catch for 27 yards. Thomas's big play could signal some future upside for the rookie, but as of now all three players aren't worth a roster spot in re-draft leagues.
