Texas Envisions Elvis Andrus Shifting To Third Base
4 years agoThe left side of the Texas Rangers' infield appears destined for a swap. Elvis Andrus has held down the shortstop position for the club since the 2009 year, but coming off of a career-worst .582 OPS last season, the Rangers appear ready to get creative heading into 2021. Isiah Kiner-Falefa is expected to take over full-time SS duties, with Andrus transitioning to third, per general manager Chris Young. Andrus has never seen time anywhere other than short or DH in his 12-year career, although he should have all of Spring Training to prepare. The shift is a best-case scenario for Andrus' fantasy value, which figured to diminish with Texas in the midst of focusing on the development of younger players. Even so, he's not a likely season-long Draft candidate except for managers hoping for a stolen base revival during his age-32 campaign.
