The Tigers Are Impressed By Franklin Perez
5 years agoDetroit Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire spoke highly of pitching prospect Franklin Perez. In an article by Evan Woodbery of MLIVE, Gardenhire had the following to say about the 22-year-old prospect: "We have a lot of top prospects, which has been talked about an awful lot, but Andy said after watching him throw his bullpens that (Perez) could be the top prospect if he stays healthy." Perez was the headlining prospect in the Justin Verlander trade. After struggling with injuries over the past two seasons, Perez is finally fully healthy. He is a name to watch in spring training. Although he is expected to start the season in Class A, he could eventually be called up to the majors later in the season if he continues to impress the organization. For now, Perez should only be owned in dynasty/keeper leagues, but he could become relevant later this year in deep mixed and AL-only leagues if he makes his big league debut in Detroit's rotation.
