7 years agoThree injured St. Louis Cardinals relief pitchers will begin rehab assignments soon, according to general manager Michael Girsch. Sam Tuivailala (knee) will begin his assignment on Wednesday with Triple-A Memphis. Ryan Sherriff (toe) will start his rehab later this week and veteran lefty Brett Cecil (shoulder) has already reported to Single-A Palm Beach to begin his. Tuivailala is out of options and Cecil is a veteran lefty specialist, so they should both end up in the St. Louis bullpen once they are healthy. Sherriff has been strong in 17 career major league innings, but the Cardinals bullpen might not have room for him right away.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
