Tigers Want Spencer Torkelson To Return This Season
2 years agoThe Detroit Tigers want rookie first baseman Spencer Torkelson to return to the big leagues before the end of the 2022 season, but they would much prefer that his promotion be based on his production/improvement at Triple-A Toledo. "Our goal when we sent him down was for him to come back. He's got to be trending in the right direction," skipper A.J. Hinch said. Torkelson was hitting just .197/.282/.295 with five home runs, 21 RBI and 25 runs scored in his first 264 MLB at-bats before his demotion to Toledo. In 28 games at Toledo, he's gone 24-for-106 (.226) with four home runs, 13 RBI, 16 runs scored and 35 strikeouts. The 22-year-old must remain rostered in dynasty/keeper leagues, but he's unlikely to do much for those in single-year mixed leagues the rest of the way.
