Tim Anderson Exits Early Due To Hip Injury
4 years agoChicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson (hip) departed from Friday’s game against the Royals due to a sore right hip. Leury Garcia -- who was on the bench in the wake of Nick Madrigal’s debut -- pinch-hit for Anderson in the seventh and remained in the game at shortstop. Anderson had been 2-for-3 at the dish before his exit, bringing his season average up to .333 with a .922 OPS through his first seven games. His next chance to get back on the field comes Saturday when the Royals are projected to send rookie right-hander Ronald Bolanos to the hill. Should Anderson remain out of the mix, Garcia figures to fill in with Madrigal likely to hold down second-base duties, with either man liable to move up the lineup card to claim Anderson’s usual leadoff spot and become a viable DFS option.
