7 years agoIn order to make room for infielder Renato Cruz — who was claimed off waivers from the Rangers on Sunday — the Baltimore Orioles moved shortstop Tim Beckham to the 60-day disabled list as he recovers from core muscle surgery. The Baltimore Sun's Eduardo Encina writes that with the move, the earliest Beckham can now return is June 23. Beckham had gotten off to a slow start before the injury, hitting .179 with 28 strikeouts and a .509 OPS over 23 games. It's going to be a while for Beckham to return and be effective, so owners that need the roster space might consider dropping him at this point.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
