Titans Declining Corey Davis' Fifth-Year Option
5 years agoThe Tennessee Titans have reportedly declined wide receiver Corey Davis' fifth-year option, which means that the former fifth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft will now be a free agent after the 2020 NFL season. Davis has already been replaced as the team's No. 1 receiver by 2019 draftee A.J. Brown, and now his future with the Titans franchise seems to be on shaky ground. Nothing would stop the Titans from agreeing on a long-term deal with Davis, but they don't see enough promise in him to pay the approximately $15 million it would have cost in 2021 to pick up the option. The Titans are a run-heavy team and Davis ranks outside the top 40 in yards by wide receivers since 2017, so this move is understandable. In 2020 he'll have one more chance to show the Titans why they picked him so high, but even with that extra motivation, he ranks outside of our top-50 fantasy wide receivers in redraft leagues at this moment.
