7 years agoUnder new Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur, the team's offense in 2018 under quarterback Marcus Mariota figures to be more aggressive downfield. LaFleur intends to tailor the offense to Mariota's abilities, which should include a heavy dose of play-action. He also excels using read-option or run-pass option plays where he can utilize his legs. LaFleur also plans to call plays looking for the home run deep down the field, something Tennessee's offense seriously lacked in 2017. "It’s extremely difficult to dink and dunk all the way down the field. Defenses are just too good," LaFleur said. "Statistically, the teams that are getting the chunk plays -- the explosives -- are the teams that are going to produce more yards and more points." Mainly due to an offense that held him hostage this year, Mariota was a fantasy bust on a run-first team. However, there remains upside, and the presence of LaFleur as the offensive coordinator should be good news for Mariota's overall production. But Mariota will still be more of an upside QB2 for fantasy purposes in 2018.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
