Tom Brady Won't Play In First Preseason Game
2 years agoTampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said that quarterback Tom Brady and many other starters will not play in the team's first preseason game next Saturday, Aug. 13, against the Miami Dolphins. This shouldn't come as a huge surprise to anyone as the Bucs look to keep the future Hall of Famer healthy for the start of the 2022 regular season. With Brady watching on the sidelines, backup Blaine Gabbert will likely get the start next weekend. The 45-year-old living legend led the NFL in completions (485), attempts (719), passing yards (5,316), touchdowns (43) and yards per game (312.7) in his second year in Tampa, and although he's not a high-end QB1 target, he'll certainly be in the QB1 mix yet again in 2022, even without trusty sidekick Rob Gronkowski.
