Tommy Edman To Be Reevaluated After Late Scratch
3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals infielder Tommy Edman (torso tightness) will be reevaluated Wednesday, manager Mike Shildt said. Edman was originally scheduled to bat leadoff against the Cardinals' 2-1 win over the Miami Marlins on Tuesday but was scratched from the lineup just before first pitch after feeling tightness during pregame. The late scratch was no doubt a shock since Edman hadn't missed a game so far this season, starting 65 of 66 games and pinch-hitting in one appearance. Edman has also become a consistent source of runs for the Cardinals, hitting .264 with four home runs and 18 RBI in 277 at-bats so far this season. The Cardinals appear hopeful, however, that the 26-year-old will be back in the lineup soon.
