4 years agoOakland Athletics second/third baseman Tommy La Stella (head) departed Saturday’s contest versus Seattle early after he was hit in the head by a throw. La Stella had socked his second triple of the year in the sixth, but was replaced by Tony Kemp after the throw to nab him at third drilled him in the helmet. Oakland has already been setback by the absence of Matt Chapman (hip), with any further ailments weakening their starting nine. With their playoff spot already locked up, it would be a surprise to see La Stella back on the field before Tuesday’s Wild Card series opener.--Jesse Borek
