Tommy Pham Can't Catch A Break
4 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Tommy Pham went 0-for-4 and grounded into two double plays Monday against the Colorado Rockies. After a promising start to May, the 33-year-old has just two hits in his last six contests, dropping his slash to .189/.318/.226 in 129 plate appearances. Pham's extended funk remains befuddling considering his respectable batted-ball outcomes (90.5 mph average exit velocity) and elite chase rates (98th percentile). Overall, he's amassed just two extra-base hits (one homer) to accompany five steals and 18 runs-plus-RBI. The absolute numbers are ugly, but Pham is a buy-low candidate for avid risk-takers.
