Tommy Pham Exits Saturday’s Contest Early With Injury
4 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Tommy Pham was slotted into the leadoff spot to begin Saturday’s contest against Arizona, but after striking out and playing just over one inning in left field, he walked off the field, ending his evening early. Edward Olivares took over for him and would figure to see an increased workload if Pham’s ailment forces an extended absence. Pham has gotten off to a slow start at the dish, slashing .205/.311/.295 to begin his San Diego career. His immediate exit from the game likely does not bode well for his chances of returning as quickly as Sunday when he could face D-backs left-hander Robbie Ray, whom he has gone 5-for-10 against in his career.
