Tommy Pham Goes Deep Monday Night
3 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Tommy Pham went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Monday against the Milwaukee Brewers. Pham's second long ball of the year came in the ninth inning as the Friars mounted a failed late-game comeback. The round-tripper was just the veteran's fifth extra-base hit this season and after wallowing with a sub-.600 OPS all season, Pham is now slashing .195/.340/.285 through 153 plate appearances. He's stolen four bags with 27 runs-plus-RBI to accompany the homers. While the headline stats are poor, the 33-year-old is taking walks at a career-high rate and continues to make solid contact. He's a buy-low candidate for managers looking for a lottery ticket.
