Tony Kemp Set To See More Opportunities
7 years agoHouston Astros outfielder Tony Kemp is in line this week for some playing time at the big league level, according to manager A.J. Hinch. The team placed outfielder Derek Fisher on the 10-day disabled list with gastrointestinal discomfort and optioned the struggling Jake Marisnick to Triple-A. Enter Kemp, who was slashing .335/.407/.435 with five triples, six doubles, 13 stolen bases, 33 runs scored and 19 runs batted at Triple-A this season. Kemp currently is stuck as a reserve outfielder -- a perennial .300 hitter in the minors, but he can't get a steady look in the majors. The 5-foot-6 speedster is 4-for-12 with the Astros this season, but now is the time to give him a longer look. He will need to maintain his excellent strikeout-to-walk ratio this season (15:19) to earn a permanent stay on the team, especially with prospect Kyle Tucker hot on his heels. Kemp is currently not on the fantasy radar but should see more playing time this week.
