Tony Kemp Is Earning Spot In Outfield Rotation
7 years agoHouston Astros outfielder Tony Kemp continues to earn more playing time and is hitting .350 through 40 at-bats in the month of June. He has been fantastic hitting at the bottom of a potent Astros lineup and has officially passed Jake Marisnick on the depth chart in the outfield. In 93 at-bats since being called up, he has walked more than struck out (9:8 walk-to-strikeout ratio) while driving in 10 runs and slashing .316/.389/.430. Kemp's speed and energy has been a breath of fresh air over the swing-and-miss ways of Marisnick (60 K's in 127 at-bats). With George Springer and Marwin Gonzalez entrenched at two spots in the outfield, Kemp will mostly battle with veteran Josh Reddick for playing time moving forward.
