Toronto Not Concerned About Josh Donaldson
7 years agoToronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson (arm) made a few awkward throws, to say the least, on Opening Day on Thursday. While the 2015 American League MVP is apparently dealing with a “dead arm,” there’s no actual injury. According to manager John Gibbons, “We don’t think it’s a big deal, it’s just dead.” Donaldson didn’t have himself much of a day at the plate in his 2018 debut, finishing 0-for-3 with a walk, but he did contribute in a way nobody expected -- he stole a base. Donaldson only had two stolen bases in all of 2017, so any contribution fantasy owners get from him in that department is an added bonus. If the Blue Jays aren’t worried enough about Donaldson to sit him for a while, then neither are we, but we do need to see some kind of production moving forward for that confidence to remain steady.
