Travis Jankowski Designated For Assignment
2 years agoThe Seattle Mariners designated outfielder Travis Jankowski for assignment on Friday in order to make room for newly acquired infielder/outfielder Jake Lamb. Lamb, a Seattle native, wasn't in the lineup on Friday against Los Angeles Angels left-hander Patrick Sandoval, but he'll likely be used regularly against right-handed pitchers, against whom he has an .808 OPS this year. He'll likely play a corner outfield spot and third base on days that Eugenio Suarez is rested. Jankowski was primarily used as a defensive replacement and a pinch-runner in his time with Seattle and he appeared in just one game. In 43 games with the New York Mets this year, he was 9-for-55 (.164) with no homers, two RBI and three stolen bases.
