5 years agoToronto Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo has expressed his interest in making his position players as flexible as possible this spring, now adding first baseman Travis Shaw into the mix to spend time at third base. He would take over the job at the hot corner when Vladimir Guerrero Jr. either acts as the designated hitter or needs an off-day, which was a common practice a season ago. Shaw's natural position is third base, so the move shouldn't be that uncomfortable for the 29-year-old. The left-handed swinger inked a one-year prove-it deal this offseason and will likely bat behind the stud bats in the Jays order this season. Shaw will likely sit versus southpaws, which would be a plus, and is only a year removed from back-to-back 30-HR campaigns, making him an intriguing late-round pick.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
