Trea Turner A Priority Extension Candidate For Dodgers?
3 years agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers will make it a priority to sign shortstop Trea Turner to a contract extension, in the opinion of The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya. Turner is under contract for the 2022 season, but after that he'll become a free agent. The 28-year-old led all position players in Wins Above Replacement (6.9) last year and won his first batting title by hitting .328. Turner was also two home runs shy of a 30-30 season. With Corey Seager now playing for the Texas Rangers, Ardaya thinks it's even more imperative that the Dodgers lock Turner up for the long term. Turner is going as high as pick No. 1 in fantasy drafts this year due to his consistency in all five traditional categories, and adding second base eligibility only helps his cause.
