Trea Turner Remains Steal-less Through Rough Start To 2020
4 years agoWashington Nationals shortstop Trea Turner came off the board as a first-round pick in many fantasy drafts in 2020. Through his first 11 games, he has performed vastly below expectations, yet to record a stolen base while leading the Majors with three times caught stealing. It’s not just his legs that have been slumping, it’s his bat too; Turner is hitting just .186 with a .536 OPS entering play Sunday. While his sprint speed 29 ft/s sprint speed remains elite, he has just a 24.2% Hard Hit rate, which is on pace for the lowest mark of his career. On the horizon, he heads to Citi Field next week, an opponent whom he has averaged one stolen base against per every two contests in his career. The Mets’ catching duo of Wilson Ramos (15% CS rate) and Tomas Nido (8%) both struggled to throw out opposing baserunners last season.
