4 years agoToronto Blue Jays pitcher Trent Thornton (elbow) pitched his first game of the spring on Friday. He had been recovering from an injury that caused him to appear in just three games in 2020. The right-hander threw two no-hit, shutout innings against the Detroit Tigers. Thornton struck out four batters while touching 93.8 mph with his fastball and sitting at 91-92 mph. He threw 20 of his 27 pitches for strikes. Just two years ago, the 27-year-old led Toronto pitchers in games started (29) and innings pitched (154 1/3) as a rookie. A healthy, resurgent Thornton would be a huge boost for Toronto. The club is currently without pitchers Nate Pearson and Thomas Hatch due to injuries.--Marc Hulet - RotoBaller
