Trent Thornton Undergoes Surgery, Done For 2020
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays right-handed pitcher Trent Thornton will miss the remainder of the 2020 season after undergoing surgery to remove loose bodies from his pitching elbow. Thornton left his most recent outing Aug. 23 after just one inning, with his season coming to a close after having yielded 15 hits and seven runs across 5 ⅔ frames. Manager Charlie Montoyo anticipates Thornton returning to the rotation mix ‘21 after he posted a 4.84 ERA in 32 appearances (29 starts) last season. The Blue Jays will have ample rotation options during September after acquiring Robbie Ray, Ross Stripling, and Taijuan Walker prior to the Trade Deadline.
