5 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Trent Thornton kept his strong spring going in Monday's contest versus the Pirates. The right-hander tossed three scoreless innings while striking out a pair in the sharp performance as he's yet to allow a run through five frames this spring. Thornton is the odds-on favorite for the job as the fifth starter in the Jays rotation after making 29 starts for the club last season. He held an uninspiring 4.84 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in his rookie campaign, but looks like an improved pitcher so far in the Grapefruit League. Thornton could have streamer appeal in mixed-leagues this season, but likely won't carry much value outside of AL-only formats.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
