Trevor Story Drawing Interest As A Potential Outfielder
3 years agoColorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story is in the midst of numerous trade rumors and speculation as the Trade Deadline approaches, but MLB.com's Mark Feinsand reports that at least one team has talked about acquiring Story and playing him in center field. Story has never played in the outfield throughout his career in the majors or minors, but in a write-up on MLB.com's trade rumor tracker, it was pointed out that with a sprint speed of 28.7 feet per second that ranks in the 88th percentile in the majors, he could have the athleticism to make that transition. There's no guarantees that Story will end up in the outfield wherever he may be traded to, but it is something fantasy managers should keep in mind, as it would be a nice boost to his value to have added positional flexibility.
