6 years agoColorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story is "encouraged" by the progress of his thumb and aims to return from the 10-day IL when first eligible. He was placed on the shelf on June 20 after jamming his thumb on a slide into second base and was initially expected to miss several weeks. Players are known to give inspiring injury news, and owners shouldn't get their hopes up until the team addresses his injury formally. The 26-year-old was in the midst of another productive season hitting .294 with 17 homers, 48 RBI, and 12 steals proving to be one of the top players at his position. Brendan Rodgers and recent call-up Garrett Hampson will see more work in Story's absence.--Riley Mrack - RotoBaller
