7 years agoPittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Trevor Williams allowed three runs in 5 2/3 innings in Thursday's loss to the Washington Nationals. The right-hander was cruising along through five shutout, one-hit frames before things fell apart in the sixth. He allowed a single to start the inning, followed by a two-run homer from Trea Turner two batters later. After recording the second out, Ryan Zimmerman took Williams deep for a solo shot to chase him from the game. On a positive note, Williams showed good command and walked just one batter, but he struck out only three. He'll carry a 2.63 ERA into his next start against the Chicago White Sox on the road on Wednesday.--Matt Wilkes
