Trey Lance Throws Two Touchdowns
3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance overcame a slow start against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, finishing strong towards the end of the first half and extending his improved play into the third quarter. After a few overthrown passes, including an interception, Lance settled into the game and delivered a 41-yard pass down the seam to Trent Sherfield. This finesse pass set up the 49ers within striking distance, which allowed Lance to thread three defenders with a five-yard dart to Mohamed Sanu and reduce the team's deficit to two points at halftime. In the third quarter, Lance would lead another 11-play, 63-yard drive that finished with a 16-yard touchdown pass to Travis Benjamin to take a 15-10 lead. He's currently valued as the QB20 but could become an immediate QB1 when he is eventually appointed the starting quarterback. It's a good idea to draft Lance in the later rounds of drafts, even in a one quarterback league, to prepare for the inevitable quarterback switch from Jimmy Garoppolo.
